Combining his knack for knowing which beats he sounds good on and which guests sound great with him, History Will Absolve Me is a perfect storm of underground hip-hop and a one-of-a-kind listening experience that will be the new standard for alternative East Coast indie excellence.
Some tracks on this are pretty dead instrumentally but the rapping is consistently great. Great themes and a pretty damn good album overall.
Ever since discovering the project Armand Hammer through their album Paraffin and the solo project with Kenny Segal from this year Hiding Places, Billy Woods has slowly become one of the modern MCs that I have been the most impressed with. His hard hitting style meshes well with underground and abstract beats, which traditionally are a style of hip hop that works wonders on me. Through and through, this album is introspective, intriguing and incredible.
