Drowned in Sound

Massive Attack remain less a band, and more an institute of entropy, the light that pierces through the black hole, the frontrunners of a genre that they outran over a decade ago.

Pretty Much Amazing

Dense, foreboding, and eerily atmospheric, Ritual Spirit plays on all the best parts of Massive Attack’s brand of trip-hop.

PopMatters

Pretty much everything that helped the band make a name for itself is on display for these four songs.

Massive Attack were always equally as good producers as they were curators; it's promising that, as much of their old sound as they've retained, they've kept this as well.

i am almost impressed by how boring and uninspired this ep sounds. it's just way too (sorry) incredibly 2 dimensional and format-orinted to find a spot among massive attack's more abrasive and egnimatic releases. frustratingly simple, but some cool features, i guess.

best track: dead editors [ft. roots manuva]

Massive Attack traz no Ep "Rital Spirit" o Hip Hop e leva para as batidas eletrônicas, no seu melhor estilo, sem perder a essência dos álbum anteriores. Deixa um gostinho de quero mais. Um pequeno presente para 2016.

After a series of relatively uninteresting projects in the 2000's from Massive Attack, Ritual Spirit was a more than welcome return to form for the group. Featuring a plethora of guests like Young Fathers and Tricky (yes he came back !!!), this E.P showcases why people fell in love with them in the first place. With some rather downcast and almost creepy instrumentation, this is a rather dark release for the group, but it goes down a treat with some of the best tracks they've released in years. ... read more
