Yungblud is an excellent album. It’s easily the most cohesive and mature album from him yet. It has anthems and heartfelt moments and it’s oozing with confidence and understanding of hate and battling it.
Rather than fury or cynicism, this tellingly self-titled third album is driven by love, sincerity and vulnerability, as Dom Harrison kills his critics with kindness.
Despite my genre-wariness, Yungblud won me over with this one. LOL. Sadface. Black emoji hearts.
‘Yungblud’ has some of Harrison’s best tracks to date, but, as a whole, it’s not refined enough to be his magnum opus.
It might be easy to write Yungblud off as being stylistically derivative, if it were not so good.
When it’s good, he’s at the top of his game, but that doesn’t stop other tracks from losing momentum, and the album could generally do with a little bit of that wildcard energy.
It’s him who’s front and centre - backdropped by a refined, more radio-friendly soundscape.
With his second album, the rising pop-punk star shoots for the mainstream yet remains a staunch defender of the disaffected.
Lyrically, he’s still crashingly unsubtle, always taking the most direct route to express feelings of self-loathing and insecurity ... But he’s calmed down a little, and that makes this his most appealing work so far.
I would love to see this dude actually try to go over the top. I think he would really excel at taking these lukewarm songs, and using his explosive personality to bring them somewhere besides the waste basket.

While not quite as outrageous as Machine Gun Kelly, he’s not competent enough to reach the decency of someone like Willow. YUNGBLUD lacks defining characteristics. Despite this, it’s hard not to find the guy likable. From his personal and confessional (yet often shallow) lyricism to his seemingly genuine passion for activism that he displayed during the ... read more
While there is almost potential here, the album falls flat in most aspects. It's fairly derivative pop-rock with pretty standard production as well. His voice can be grating at points, which takes me out of the experience immediately. 4/10
It's just alright. Compared to some of the other stuff from I heard; the lyrics felt disingenuous, tracks were pretty boring, and the album nosedives towards the back end EVEN THOUGH the first half was just meh. Some catchy choruses from Yungblud, but it can't fix the rest of the songs they are apart of. Meh
