iANO on this album comes out of HexD towards safer sounds of electronic art pop. Still a lot of influences from ambient, indietronic psychedelia, progressive electronics as well as silenced sounds he's known of.


The first thing you'll notice when finding yourself in front of Life Cycles is just how clean it all is. And I don't say that to demean any of Chris McCracken's previous work as iANO, but after his ultra compressed, ultra joyful 2021 debut Dispossession and his Stacks of Cash and Despair compilation that took on everything from hexD to trance to black metal, the rich textures and breathable tonal centers of his sophomore album Life Cycles places it as a landmark in his music from the jump.
