Her voice is just coarse enough to sound painful, but soft enough to sound private. If it weren't for the tender heart beating in her songs, Reimold's music would be brutal. Luckily for us, life has already claimed that title—and she's still in the process of learning that it won't let up anytime soon.
A wide range of dark post-punk song styles paired with trembling, expressive vocals, Philadelphia's Abi Reimold is a force to be reckoned with. I can see her becoming a critical darling over her next couple releases because of her ability to move between loud, intense setpieces and more tender tracks with pared-down instrumentation. Reimold's lyrics cut deep, further strengthened by her severing voice. "Wriggling" hits hard then let's you down softly; a mixture of self-deprecating aggression and softly spoken depressive tendencies. Reimold spills her guts, revealing her darkest, most grueling innards--akin to a can of worms.
