it will always be a bop

By now, Formation is sitting atop the end of many lists as the best song in 2016. While its label as the year's best song can be debated, what can't is its impact: hundreds of remixes, contempt from conservative news networks (which guarantees brilliance a la "Alright") and its endless plays in stadiums worldwide. The marching band-esque production makes this a perfect anthem for those willing to fight oppression (a theme within the context of the song's video) with compelling grace.

That beat is so infectious, I love it.

Beyoncé is too hard to spell, so Imma use B, aight?

B made possibly one of the the best tracks I've heard. There are some weird parts, but it's still great nonetheless:

Refrain:
I think that B has a bad rap voice. At the beginning of the refrain, at least. She sounds depressed and sad. I would give this a lower score, but the end of the refrain makes up for it. This is energy. The delivery is clean, and rough. The rapping in between is the best part of this, by far! The singing at the ... read more

This impresses me with its tight production. Since around 2011, I've found it hard not to appreciate the music she releases. While there might be the occasional miss, she more than compensates with other standout tracks. Beyoncé's vocal delivery exudes confidence and aggression, a quality I genuinely love. The beat has an intriguing quality, with a slightly odd sound emerging at the beginning, especially in the chorus, but overall, it's sensational, incredibly fun, and sticks in your ... read more

ELA É A HISTÓRIA!

Anyone else disappointed this didn't make it into the year-end Hot 100 of 2016?

This beat (prod. Mike WiLL Made-It) is the most inspired beat I have ever heard in my life. Beyoncé's rapping is delightful and hilarious (Red Lobster? Nostrils, anyone?), and the music video makes for a culturally significant, uplifting, and *HARD AS HELL* piece of art. "Sometimes I go off (I go off)/I go hard (I go hard)" 100%, and this song gets a 100%

Queen Bey is back! So ladies please get in formation! It’s been a whirlwind few days in terms of Beyoncé hype, we got a music video, an epic Super Bowl performance and a tour announcement. And Formation as a single does not disappoint. http://renownedforsound.com/index.php/single-review-beyonce-formation/#prettyPhoto

The production is TIGHT on this. Ever since 2011 or so I just can't dislike the stuff this woman releases. There's the occasional dud, but she more than makes up for it with other songs. The vocal delivery is just so confident and aggressive, I love it.

This song goes inexplicably hard. This beat is based off of this goofy spring noise and these eerie high-pitched synths. Bey starts rapping about going to Red Lobster, of all places. It shouldn’t work. But when you put it all together, you’ve got a banger on your hands.
