Nearly 50 minutes of sweet, melancholic indie rock which helped create the blueprint that the thousands of "aspiring indie bands" attempt to imitate. Sparklehorse set themselves apart from the rest of the 90's alt rock groups with a slower and much more emotional take on the common rock formula of the decade. The cover is fucking spooky but this was an awesome album. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend it, one of my new essentials.

The lyrics, the instruments, the vocals, everything about this album gives the album this happy yet depressing sound that makes this album really deceiving, I'm a huge fan of stuff like that, so I already knew I was gonna love it solely from that. honestly a big inspiration to me and my music. This album is heartbreaking and chocked full of emotional lyrics, awesome low-key guitar playing and an all around unconventional mood. This project gives off the biggest vibe of "hopelessness". The lyrics are even more heartbreaking after Mark's untimely death due to suicide. An absolute gem of an album <3
