honestly a big inspiration to me and my music. This album is heartbreaking and chocked full of emotional lyrics, awesome low-key guitar playing and an all around unconventional mood. This project gives off the biggest vibe of "hopelessness". The lyrics are even more heartbreaking after Mark's untimely death due to suicide. An absolute gem of an album <3

Nearly 50 minutes of sweet, melancholic indie rock which helped create the blueprint that the thousands of "aspiring indie bands" attempt to imitate. Sparklehorse set themselves apart from the rest of the 90's alt rock groups with a slower and much more emotional take on the common rock formula of the decade. An amazing heartbreaking album, after you find out about the singers early death the lyrics hit harder the indie and lo-fi elements blend together so well; A must listen

A complete masterpiece. I've been listening to this quite a lot these days and I was thinking how could I have scored this with a 84 rating. Maybe that's because I didnt know the story behind Mark Linkous and his work.

The tenderness of the vocals, the original effect of the guitar, the smooth production, the power of the lyrics, Mark's depression, the fact that it's ahead of its time and the fantastic tribute/cover to one of the best songs of all times, make this record an enjoyable and ... read more
