There are still guitars, bass, drums, and keyboards, but they’re scrambled by technology and recast as free-flowing passages of cryptic texture. Yet the new approach proves surprisingly accessible, despite The Drones’ continued passion for abrasion.

It’s in its haphazardly placed noisy notes that this art rock album grabs me. The biting lyrics are slightly rapped, the vocals are cool and expressive, and the lumbering pace has gravitas bringing awe to the expansive moments.

The noisy art rock record, "Feelin Kinda Free", is a well arranged mixed bag. The record is full of very solid high points, but is ultimately dragged down by what feels like filler songs, despite the album's humble length.
