The Skinny

On their second effort, Get Fucked, The Chats look primed to step up on the higher echelons of modern punk and Australian exports.

They’re pushing the accelerator right to the floor, and there’s no sign of them hitting the brakes any time soon.

Kerrang!
Is there more to The Chats than snot, spit and going for a cigarette? Yeah, although you'll have to find it beneath the bants. But this is their world. And once again, they're showing you around it magnificently.

NME
The Sunshine Coast punks continue to fight for their right to party, avoiding preachiness by showing the finger to anyone who stands in their way.

Pitchfork

Like bassist and vocalist Eamon Sandwith’s already iconic bowl-cut/mullet combo, Get Fucked is militaristic severity up front, party in the back.

AllMusic
Open a beer, play this loud, and pogo yourself into bliss one more time -- that's just how the Chats would want it.

Classic Rock

It’s hardly life-altering stuff, but it’s a lot more fun than Neighbours.

The Guardian
They may never recapture the naive charm of their viral debut – but the playing is tighter, the music tougher, and the songs still crackle with energy.

Even though I do enjoy High Risk Behaviour a little more, The Chats stick to their guns on Get Fucked. Nothing about this is brand new or revolutionary but they create some of strongest carefree punk music atm.

Brief Review: Considering how short this album is, I really don't have a whole lot to say tbh. It's some pretty great punchy punk rock tracks with some yell vocals, but apart from that, it's nothing all that special in the grander scheme of things. I'm usually not all that bothered by short song lengths, but most of these songs don't really give me that much of an impression apart from the standard punk type feelings. Still a pretty decent album tho.

Australia usually isn't the first thing I think of when I think of punk, so this took me off guard. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Although somewhat repetitive, and definitely in your face, I think this was a solid punk album. This isn't pushing any boundaries, but it's not trying to. Pretty much just some solid punk that isn't trying to be anything it's not.

"Get Fucked" by The Chats is a good and straightforward punk album with heart and soul put into it! The performances are energetic and chaotic at the same time and the instrumentals are fun: I especially love how the bass sounds! So yes, it's rough, it's punchy, it's punk music! Nothing less and nothing more.

Album: Get Fucked
Artist: The Chats
Genre: Garage Punk

A Garage Punk band I am just now hearing about “The Chats” just recently dropped a body of work that is short, but while short is still 28 minutes of work that stands out. The first track “6L GTR” was an energetic start to the record while also having the rough and humanized guitar play that I love in Garage Rock. “Boggo Breakout” keeps the energy going and also has vocals that are very in sync with ... read more
