Despite the reference to Hell in the title and in the cover, ELIO's debut mixtape lacks of strong emotions, darkness, tension and everything that can be associated to an hellish place. It's a frustrating, tedious and forgettable listen, although I think that ELIO still needs to find who she is as an artist and/or just wanted mainstream attention to get a significant amount of hype.

Musically, don't expect anything different from a lot of electropop/alt-pop musicians: it is just pretty cookie ... read more

elio is one of charli’s pop prodigees that she’s decided to take under her wing and, in my opinion, the most unique and recognizable one. daine is cool and nasty cherry are also quite appealing (btw, what the hell happened to all of them) but elio’s unique charm and natural charisma is unmatchable. she’s got that awkward girl next door attitude and that’s what makes her stories so interesting.

i can say that i’m an elio original stan since she instantly ... read more

This is an absolute snooze fest.

With a whopping two songs worth returning to, ELIO'S INFERNO is not good! It follows the autotuned vocal trend set by Charli XCX, but ELIO is not nearly as interesting as her more talented counterpart. With boring instrumentals, lackluster lyrics, and sleepy vocals, this mixtape drags along. That's about it, check out the couple tracks I liked below.

One word to summarize this mixtape: Burning

I am pretty let down with this mixtape, though I have to say I was expecting it given the low quality of most of the singles. ELIO is just missing that effortless charm that many of her earlier songs have had (Jackie Onassis, Charger, etc.) and many of the lyrics are awkward, cliché, and tired. for example, I enjoy listening to parts of "TYPECAST", but then the chorus begins and her vocal performance is uncomfortable and the lyrics are so annoying to listen to that I ... read more

no tiene muchas vueltas, lo que hace lo hace bien pero nada más.

on a mixtape that is neither life changing, inventive or new, elio offers some radio-friendly bops to her listeners. she also goes the highly popular "rock pop" /"edgy" route that so many (a lot) of her peers have chosen over the last year - it suits her but doesn't really add anything interesting to the mix.

'elios inferno' has some cute moments and isn't necessarily bad, just a bit forgettable

Ridiculous lyrically, but gets the ass shaking. Strange ear candy experimental interludes (and great production in general.) Lots of fun overall. Has a personality of its own besides the obvious Charli XCX influence.

Unlike her hyperpop peers, Elio has yet to find her own distinct style. This mixtape is a amalgam of Charli XCX, 100 gecs and others, a mishmash of sounds and styles heard better elsewhere. While not terrible, it's not particularly memorable at any moment either.

Standouts: infferno, new and improved, Vitamins, Godly Behavior
