Might end up being a second 100 and AOTY from me based off what I've heard from live shows. Sugar/Tzu, Eat Men Eat, Welcome to Hell, The Defence, and 27 Questions are all 10/10 songs, so they're getting at least a 5/10 even if everything else is some of the worst stuff I've ever heard, which I doubt it will be.
i think the craziest thing about the windmill scene rn is just how fast their pumping out these albums that challenge their listeners while still making them enjoyable. i’ve seen bands that make enjoyable boring music and bands that make unlistenable challenging music, and the big three bands in the windmill scene rn (black midi, bcnr, and squid) all keep finding that perfect balance that keeps their fans engaged while also keeping them challenged.
spoiled myself a little bit by watching youtube videos of their live shows but the few songs i’ve heard from those are all AMAZING! genuinely can’t wait for this album
Yesterday I saw them play live. They played like the whole new album. It sounds amazing so far. Also the concert was one of the loudest and wildest experiences I ever had.
In regards to my previous comment, I think that Greep is the best songwriter in modern rock, and has been since Schlagenheim. Isaac Wood is a close second though.
