I mean it's only their debut but...
I may seem really harsh for a record that I gave a 70, but I just feel like this is such an underwhelming release from a band that has had such overwhelming highs.

Let's start off with the positives; These AMAZING guitar riffs. They completely make this record. Tracks utterly consumed in them, leaving a wasteland pure stoner bliss. I've been such a huge fan of Queens of the Stone Age for years now, but for a while I was hesitant to listen to their debut. Not only are debut records usually hit or miss, but the cover art is...less than ideal. It turns out that even since their earliest days as band though, QOTSA knew how to write really solid rock tunes. There certainly are some great "RIIIIFFFFS" but there's not enough "GRRROOOOOOVE"
I don't know, I really don't like Josh Homme's vocals here, the instrumentals are good and the guitar riffs are amazing, but the album lacks on energy a lot.
