As someone who has fallen out of love with metalcore and just about all of its various sub-genres, I appreciate the fact that Demon Hunter has attempted to mature and grow more exploratory as musicians. Ever since True Defiance, they've been forsaking Ryan's gravelly yells and slowly turning a corner towards progressive rock. But their melodic ear has left a lot to be desired and the results have been dreadfully unimaginative.

Demon Hunter is the band that got me into metalcore and metal in general, and today they still remain one of my favorite bands of all time. This album was the first Demon Hunter album released where I was actually part of the hype cycle, and it is probably still some of the most hype I've had for any release ever, besides Death Below by ABR.
