AllMusic

Arguably Psychocandy is an album with one trick and one trick alone -- Beach Boys melodies meet Velvet Underground feedback and beats, all cranked up to ten and beyond, along with plenty of echo. However, what a trick it is.

Psychocandy remains a perfect record for states of feeling so bratty, depressed, or disgusted that you actually start to enjoy it.

The perfect marriage of sweet and rebellious nature. A feat of sound and texture that took in the sonic ideas of bands like Les Rallizes Dénudés and elevated them to a more accessible (but still challenging) level. The colorful manifesto of a dark age.

A highly influential album that might have shaped 90s indie rock along with The Stone Roses' self titled debut...
However, musically it pales in comparison to later albums inspired by this album.

Overrated sounds like velvet underground with less flair.
