power-pop excellence

I listened to 2am at 2am look at me being a true fan >:)

This was a fun listen! I enjoyed the overall sound and direction. Indie Rock/Pop is one of my favorite genres, and even though I absolutely love it, sometimes yeah it can be a bit meat and potatoish. Here I don’t have that problem though. There a handful of bangers and the sound is consistent the whole way through. The production, singing and performances are all solid. The songs are pretty catchy too. I really love the energy ... read more

The champions of modern power pop return with another phenomenal project, this time with a bit more maturity behind them both lyrically and instrumentally.

I am done with the drama of is this album that was supposed to be the album I wanted it to be plaguing my fucking feed every time I think. Yes, everything is disappointing, At The Drive-In fell off, my microwave just stopped working and boohoo apparently the Queen of England died of cringe after meeting with Liz Truss but who honestly gives a fuck? At the end of the day it's going to still be me, my cat, my wife, my kids and my far too expensive TV that I use to port pirated Wes Anderson movies ... read more

An all-you-can-eat buffet of hooks. Probably my favorite Beths record on a first listen and some of the punchiest and pluckiest indie rock of the decade so far. I’m only expecting these songs to worm their way into heart more and more over time and I just can’t wait to hear the process.

Quite possibly my favorite indie rock album of the year. I'm not familiar with this band at all but this was such a fun listen, I really don't have much to complain. The production, although probably what you would expect from this type of record, is punchy and energetic, vocal performances are great and the songs are super catchy. The songwriting is a bit of a mixed bag, sometimes generic, but there are a few really great lines and metaphors hidden here and there. The title track for example ... read more

Nada de novo ou de espetacular sobre o sol,na verdade esse disco fica até meio monótono pela metade, mas é um bom álbum de Indie Rock e tem os seus destaques.

Nothing here is mindblowing, but it's all just so consistent. Can't think of a single song here other than I Want To Listen which I would consider skipping

Quite disappointing after their great second record. Maybe this will grow on me but there’s not tracks that jump out, nothing bad, nothing great.

Ok, I don't even know where to start this review bcs it's not my usual thing, I just rate albums and that's it, no commentart on WHY I have it that rating. But I want my take on this album to be heard. The Beths have such a beautiful and bittersweet way of portraying heartbreak, loneliness or even longing, longing for the past, the fear of changing, the fear of what that change might bring. Mainly the thing that made me talk about this was the last song on the album, "2am". It's just, ... read more

Loving the heck out of this project. The Beths have created one of the catchiest and well written records this year. Every track has a catchy melody combined with fantastic instrumental to accompany it. Vocals are good as well but it's the melodies here that I think really shine through. What I love most is that each track feels fresh and explores a different sound from pop to punk rock. Some of the riffs remind me of classic Blink 182 or QOTSA. They work extremely well here and bring a slight ... read more

Power pop perfection. Every song is infectious, from the slow burning chaos of "2am", to the perfectly structured "Head in the Clouds", to the ironic noise of "Silence Is Golden", to the viciously clever metaphors of "Expert in a Dying Field". The Beths just don't miss.

Decent record, with so much energy on it. I like the originality of the performance of individual pieces, and at the same time the hit character of the others. Fave song on album: A Passing Rain, catchy riff, enjoyable melody = everything you want to receive from indie band.

Man, I was really looking forward to this album after their last two, but this one is....fine. Nothing really stands out. Not good, not bad.
It may grow on me with time.

This is pretty great all around indie rock album that easily has the best consistency of all indie rock bands. I enjoyed her vocals, instruments and even the lyrics blending all at once. The words chosen to do the chorus is real nice with her sort of fast singing fitting the guitars so well. Favorite songs are Knees Deep, Best Left, 2 Am and I Told You I Was Afraid.
