Gemini Rights is a coming of age album where Lacy asserts that whatever journey he’s been on, it’s clear he now knows who he wants to become.
It's hard to find fault with Gemini Rights, though Lacy's genre-defying, sometimes quirky kaleidoscope of sounds certainly isn't for everyone.
Gemini Rights feels like the product of a grand jam session, and is, in fact, Steve Lacy’s most collaborative solo effort to date.
With confidence in his pen as well as his sexuality, Lacy is stepping into his own. Devoid of attachment to a single lover or sound, on Gemini Rights, Steve Lacy has turned up the heat.
Gemini Rights is his second full album, following 2019’s Apollo XXI, and, on a technical level at least, it’s just as accomplished as his obvious confidence in himself would suggest.
On Gemini Rights, his second solo album proper, Lacy returns to a familiar well of sexy debauchery and smooth licks, while unpicking the emotional aftermath of a recent break-up.

1. Static - 9
[Nice and chill way to start off the album]
2. Helmet - 9
[Really liked the instrumental on this, very unique and subtle. Lyrics were nice as well just an easy listen]
3. Mercury - 9
[Damn those background vocals add so much, so beautiful, just sounds so simple yet so good]
4. Buttons - 7.5

You know, I was on the fence, Steve, but you’ve convinced me. Gemini’s DO deserve rights!
I think I understand Bedroom Pop now, not fully but definitely more before listening to this album.
Steve Lacy has always been my first go-to artist to just have a fun time. Now don't get me wrong there are a lot more artists that can get you that exact feeling and make it feel better. But Steve is that artist where almost every song of each of his projects can have so much fresh smell in it. Not always good but it definitely has a positive reaction.
This album is no exception, not at all. ... read more
My favorite modern RnB album as of right now. Everything about it screams originality and fun, plus it has Sunshine on it, which is one of my favorite songs of all time.
I honestly don’t trust people who actively dislike this album, because while it might not exactly be what they are looking for, it still has songs on there that anyone can enjoy.
