I didn't like this album at all. Wow.

The nasally falsettos and nasally whisper-whines, the Police-style semantic satiation songwriting, the cheesy lyrics, the squeaky pickles Currents beat...I don't know. Great Value-brand Technotronic - Pump Up the Jam.

I had no intentions of finishing this album front to back, but I listened to Can't Break My Soul by Beyonce and when some people were saying it sounded like a song from this album, I had to find out what they were talking about. So I went over to the album on youtube intending to listen to like one or two songs when I was so fascinated by the change in sound that I finished the whole thing. On the one hand, you could definitely call this album a hack just riding off the house trend and part of ... read more

I loved "Certified Lover Boy" 'cause if it was something more than bad, it was funny and entertaining ... This was just so fucking boring from the start to the very end.

Boring, uninspired, and out right annoying in areas. It's a new sound from Drake and glimpses of hope shine through with the flow and production on tracks like Sticky and Jimmy Cooks. The sample used in Currents makes my ears hurt.

A friend advised me not to listen to this album but my stupid ass took it as invitation. All beats were super repetitive and boring. The only thing that prevented me from falling asleep were Drake’s atrocious vocals that sound like someone forced him to and sit in the studio and record just about anything. The whole album sounds like no one cared to make it any good or even slightly interesting. Don’t even get me started on that squicky bed frame sound effect on "Currents" ... read more

I say with zero exaggeration/joy in my heart that this has to be the worst Drake album to ever drop. Scorpion came close with it's bored tracks and double runtime, but christ dude. 50+ minutes of boring and embarrassing dancehall with the same bpm and no variation. I don't know why people are praising Drake for "trying something new" with this album. He's been doing dancehall tracks since Views, there's even some on Take Care. The only difference is here, that's all you get. ... read more

A pop artist exploring beyond their sound and weaving through expectation is a good set up. Just this year, an emboldened ROSALÍA gave us the brilliant ‘MOTAMAMI’. The trouble with ‘Honestly, Nevermind’, is that it is not experimental to anyone but Drake himself. The beats pass by like an artificial water park river, occasionally pumping out some feeble waves; the vocals and writing end up debasing a lot of the more promising, hooky beats and the elements of house ... read more

Despite the tasteless ramblings of the common 14 year old trap-locked listeners, this album is actually quite refreshing and fun. While there are certainly skips, the dancehall and euro pop sound of Drake’s 7th studio album brings new life into what was a declining act in the industry. No, this is not an album for those who only listen to music for the lyrics, go annotate some poems. This is music to get you on your feet and if you are against dancing, I would assume you’ve never ... read more

Drake's most enjoyable project since More Life, but that's honestly not saying much. While I think Drake going into a more Hip House musical direction, this album doesn't really showcase lyrical and musical strength for Drake. There are a few moments that stick with you, but the rest is essentially background music, the worst kind of elevator music that you forget once you walk out the door. If Drake continues with this direction, I would like to see him double down on it.

I can’t lie and say I expected better but at least it was something different then I expected, but just as boring and generic.

The album starts off with ‘Falling Back,’ a generic dance beat that I would think Drake could possibly make a decent track with but I was completely blindsided with how terrible his vocals are. The issues persist on subsequent tracks as I attribute them to lazily performed singing and an irritating vocal mix. ‘Currents’ is a masterwork on ... read more
