Beyoncé still makes this song enjoyable with a great vocal performance but this instrumental is really generic and is like a Royalty Free house beat from YouTube.
I really think the song is a grower, the more I listen to it the more enchanted I am by the emotion and energy. However, it's obvious that compared to lead singles like "Formation" and "Crazy In Love" it's extremely weak, lacking a more experimental production and striking verses. Beyoncé has returned with an anthem that hypes you up and announces that try as others might, they won’t be able to break your soul. I am not a fan of the song’s intro, the chorus is a little repetitive, and the song could have been shorter, but there’s enough going on elsewhere to forgive these three things. I haven’t checked out a full Beyoncé album in a long time; so, I will likely give “Renaissance” a shot.
