Distorted Sound

Baby is the album we need right now. It is raw and emotional, but also knows when and when not to be irreverent.

Kerrang!

Ferocious, focussed and, more than anything, downright fun, Baby is further proof that Petrol Girls are one of contemporary punk’s finest bands.

Classic Rock

An exhilarating, incandescent rebel yell of a record.

The Line of Best Fit

Baby might be a subtler touch than Petrol Girls’s back catalogue, but it’s a brilliant balance.

New Noise

Baby is a remarkable outing from Petrol Girls who have proven themselves once again to be one of the best noise-rock acts in the U.K. right now.

Crack Magazine

Though it’s an album you can dance to, the gravity of its message remains startlingly serious: we must fight for a better future, in spite of the bleakness of it all.

This is one of those albums that would be absolutely excellent from front to back if it didn't have one baffling lead single that kind of sucks. Aside from whatever "Baby, I Had an Abortion" is though, this is one of the best riot grrrl records I've heard in a long while, and keeps up the band's winning streak. It's a super fun blend of synth-punk and post-hardcore that's sure to pump you up. I also highly recommend the band's debut, which is one of my favorites in the genre.

Every time I see the tag 'riot grrrl' on an album, I immediately know what it's about to sound like, but those albums never disappoint, and this is just another example of that. The amount of energy and fun in these songs is enough to get me rockin' out and excited to hear more. I always love music like this, and to hear it coming out now in the same style and energy as when the scene first started is always great to see, especially when it's experimenting with other genres.

First and foremost, fuck the Supreme Court of the United States. Secondly, this is one of the hardest albums to drop this year. I need to hear more Riot Grrrl records in general but I think it's safe to say that Petrol Girls third album 'Baby' was a pretty great place to have started since it's generally just a fucking killer album. On top of just being a killer album it's also a very potent and powerful one with the band being very blatant and in-your-face about the politics they're talking ... read more

• Instrumentally "Baby" is a hit or miss. there are some powerful punk songs here , but there are also songs that sound disappointed with large shifts in melody that make no sense.
• The vocals, are simply atrocious.
• The lyrics are dumb, the singer is furious about social justice, but with the exception of the song "Baby, I Had an Abortion" the lyrics are nonspecific. They give you the impression they rebel without a cause, they just repeat whatever they ... read more

It is a HUGE shame that this album is being put down to simply being another riot-grrrl album. This thing is a MASSIVE statement which freakishly lands at the perfect time in the world for it to release. It is hellish as fuck while also having some really authentic and catchy melodies. Everything is passionate (which makes sense given the subject) and the British punk vocals are great too. What really sells it for me is the ideas executed here. Some of these riffs are FUCKING INSANE. ... read more
