The cantankerous old devil is back in blistering top form and making music that will remind you exactly why we love the cantankerous old devil in the first place.

The Sick… showcases a depth and a compositional brilliance that’s rooted in this line-up’s uncanny ability to reimagine Megadeth’s iconic sound in a fresh and compelling way.

Record Collector

The band's 16th studio album is certainly a strong addition to their discography and shows that MegaDave Mustaine and his band ... still have plenty up their sleeve.

Kerrang!

On The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, the war machine is resolutely in-gear.

AllMusic

It's a tense and impatient record, even by Megadeth's standards, and re-affirms the band's status as completely essential metal deities who are still operating on a level of excellence most of their peers fell from decades ago.

Distorted Sound

MEGADETH albums are a lot like ordering a pizza ... And on The Sick, The Dying…And The Dead!, your pizza arrives full of the flavour you’ve come to expect, but there’s uneven slices and double what you ordered.

Classic Rock

Isolation and introspection have made for a better, more cohesive Megadeth album.

PopMatters

Megadeth skirt the contemporary issues they tease on The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead! But was this brand of metal ever designed to be this safe?

MegaDave and his trusty war buddy, Vic Rattlehead, are back with a mixed bag that gathers the good, the average, and the bad.

Angry Metal Guy

Since Megadeth now dwell in the Annihilator Zone, anything that isn’t a greasy dumpster fire is a happy surprise and a win overall. Long-time supporters will appreciate the way the album revisits various eras of the band, but make no mistake; this is a salvage operation for the faithful.

Megadeth's latest has a few highlights, but repulses in greater measure.

So far, so mid... so what!

The riffage and soloing is good but an album can't be made only of it and as long as the drums and bass sounds good too, the vocals and rhythm are so poor that I cringed a lot listening to it. As usual to so many metal records, the heaviest moments are the best. Unfortunately a mid record.

Not too shabby Dave... not too shabby at all. 'The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!' is no different from any other pure Thrash Megadeth album, it doesn't add much that's new for Dave Mustaine and co. but I won't lie, a fair amount of tracks on it slap and the band show they can still make some Thrash Metal bangers. The production can be a little too clean on a few tracks and Dave Mustaine's vocals can be an... acquired taste to say the least but honestly what the band does well on this ... read more

I know that giving this a bad rating is an incredibly obvious thing to do, but the thing is that this latest album by legendary metal band Megadeth already sounds incredibly old and just not necessary.

A lot of metal bands from the 90s are trying to stay relevant and none of them are succeeding

Favorite Track: The Planet’s on Fire (Burn in Hell)

Least Favorite Track: Junkie

Not a terrible album but not my favorite from the band. “Dogs of Chernobyl” is a favorite.
