NME
After years of grafting, the well-connected Bedford producer and songwriter steps out of the shadows to serve up an accomplished solo album.

If this is Lil Silva on his solo debut, then with the work and ethic he’s been fostering, the future is bound to be bright and exciting.

The Line of Best Fit

Lil Silva has crafted a record that is a combination of the tools, influences, ideas, and collaborators he’s collected over 12 years in the industry and he’s fought for the magnetic centre of each track, using strings, samples and more to voice the beautiful and the less so.

Pitchfork
The UK producer’s debut album, 12 years into his career, bridges his popstar songwriting with his work in the UK funky scene.

Loud and Quiet

Yesterday is Heavy sounds different from Lil Silva’s previous efforts. It feels like a sincere and confident project that fits an artist willing to change his approach with each new project.

A somewhat clandestine record housing some of the best dance grooves you'll hear this year. A project that I wasn't anticipating but had to check out when I saw the likes of Sampha, Serpentwithfeet, Little Dragon, and Charlotte Day Wilson all featured on the tracklist. Ended up being a pleasing surprise... The production on this album is evergreen. If you like artists like Kaytranada, Disclosure, etc. , it won't disappoint.

I feel boring when my rating falls directly in-line with AOTY's average already. Anyway, I loove Lil Silva's general sound. For fans of Black Coffee, SBTRKT, Jim-E Stack. Very electronic and spacious and R&B-laced and modern. Tracks with the featured artists are the standouts, perhaps unsurprisingly. I was a little underwhelmed by the solo cuts, but they're still good background music.
