CRITIC REVIEWS

90
Northern Transmissions

It’s rare to hear something so personal and so relatable.

80
NME

Across 13 tracks, the 24-year-old explores relationships with others, her parents, herself and the world at large, each accompanied by its own distinct, complex palette of emotion.

80
The Forty-Five

‘Moss’ picks up from the thoughtfulness and intrigue of Hawke’s impressive debut and stretches her lyrical and worldbuilding abilities to even darker corners.

80
Under The Radar

Striking, passionate, devastating, and, ultimately, revitalizing, MOSS is a breath of fresh air, a stirring vision of young adulthood in blue.

80
The Telegraph

With soulful vocals, delicate stories and vulnerable lyrics, Moss makes for a delightful listen.

The Line of Best Fit

The album could do with some variation in its sound and a few more wildcard tracks to switch things up a bit, but overall, MOSS is a gorgeous outing for Maya Hawke.

60
AllMusic

MOSS is lovely on average and improves over the debut by committing to a design that suits Hawke's vocal qualities.

50
Uncut

Moss badly needs a bit more Upside Down energy.

Maya Hawke provides a balanced work between half of perfect melodic folky tunes and half of bland forgettable moments.
