Bjork’s latest album is the ultimate magical journey. It shows what Art Pop can, and should try to achieve. It’s amazing to see her still pushing boundaries even today, after so many projects. She has created one of the most whimsical albums I’ve heard in a while.

The teasers showed really cool pieces, but the full image is pure joy and beauty. The tracks all flow so smoothly, and everything feels like a necessary part of the pacing. The lyrics are intense, cryptic, and ... read more

Hello. It is Christmas time and I am sitting here by my TV. I've been watching it very much lately because I'm on holiday. And I've been seeing all these programs about all sorts of things. About Icelandics being very happy about Christmas, very gay, and also very serious and spiritual. And also seeing Icelandic comic people making jokes. Which they are very good at.
But now I'm curious. I've switched the TV off and now I want to see how it operates. How it can make, put me into all those weird ... read more

Another late-career masterpiece from everyone’s favorite Icelandic songstress

At this point, Björk really does not need an introduction. She is one of the most celebrated artists of the past half century, known for her eclectic and quirky singing style and production.

Each Björk album is distinctly different from each other. To the grand sweeping string sections and bold electronic beats that define her 1997 opus “Homogenic” to the airy flute arrangements that ... read more

Gabber + Bass Clarinets x Mushrooms + Fungus = Biological Techno

Björk is my #1 favourite artist of all time, there's no doubt about that. So naturally, 'Fossora' has been my most anticipated album of the year, and it has certainly lived up to the expectations I had for it.

Fossora, similar to its predecessor 'Utopia', builds an immersive, mystical and addictive world in its instrumentation, lyrics and atmosphere. It's quirky, unique and whimsical, evident in tracks like 'Atopos' and ... read more

Björk being one of my favorite artists, I was VERY excited to listen to this. That said, my high expectations had left me quite anxious; I'm still not fully sure what to make of the album as a whole, but I'll try to articulate my thoughts as best as I possibly can.

5 years after her most bloated and uneventful release, "Utopia", Björk makes an explosive return with "Fossora", which might just be her most challenging and mind-boggling album to date. From the ... read more

TRÖLLA-GABBA SOTY!

It's fantastic despite lacking the sort of distinct sound of its own that most Björk albums have (except the occasional burst of gabber). Although I wasn't crazy about 'Utopia', I respected its consistent and immersive sound. Here, it seems like Björk is recycling past ideas in a way. For example, the largely a capella tracks don't rival much from 'Medúlla'; even the excellent ode to her late mother 'Ancestress' wouldn't crack the top 3 on 'Vulnicura'.

I'm listening to this album with my mom

My mom rated this album a 7, she said her voice is very specific but great and the production is varied and creative.

edit: I remember my mom said she didn't like it when Björk sing hard R.

Björk is back with some more Björk-like weirdness, showcasing a dense sound palette, icy aesthetics, and unique song-structures.
The album has a dystopian quality to it with various industrial elements and odd atmospheres being present, making it feel like an extraterrestrial trip at times, similar to the one on 2001: A Space Odyssey. I also enjoyed most of the lyrics which I found to be both sincere and meaningful.

As for the negatives, some of the tracks did become quite stale due ... read more

Fossora is arguably Björk's most interesting work. An incredibly unique sound and identity that is somehow a melding of much of her previous work, the buoyancy of Debut, the acapella and distorted vocals of Medulla, Volta's eclecticism whilst still feeling cohesive, the electronic soundscapes and hard hitting beats, the sense of loss and sadness at points reminiscent of Vulnicura, with a track straight from Utopia. Fossora is an album only Björk could have made, an enjoyable ... read more

Please help me feel good about anything in life Bjork.

Edit: It's satisfying, but my day is still not saved.

Since this is still so fresh, I'm going to keep my thoughts on this brief, as I imagine I'm going to be spending a lot more time with this over the coming weeks. Anyways, it's great! This definitely draws the most obvious influence from Medúlla and Utopia, and much like both of those records this manages to have a completely unique and consistent artistic direction and sound. If there's one thing Björk is never lacking in it's creative ambition. However, judging by the two singles ... read more

"Fossora" - Björk

Ouvir "Fossora" é como entrar num mundo élfico, completamente tomado pela natureza. Não um convencional, tomado majoritariamente por flores e borboletas, mas por fungos. Tomado pela escuridão, como numa noite profunda com luzes fluorescentes. E nesse mundo, Björk toma seu espaço e criar reflexões sobre a morte e a vida, positividade e negatividade, e ancestralidade. Expressando as suas ideias ... read more

Born too late to explore earth, born too early to explore space, but born just in time to witness Björk inventing Mushroom Pop.

Fossora is Björk’s tenth studio album, and at this point she really has nothing more to prove to anybody, she could basically never show up in public ever again and she would do that with a very cemented and incredible legacy. But, fortunately for us, she decided to give her fans a new batch of songs in the form of Fossora, an incredible 54-minute ... read more

× FOSSORA - BJÖRK ×

{REVIEW GERAL}

Do ponto de vista técnico, como ouvinte me agrada ... read more

If there is one artist in this world who is still staying strong even after 30 years, it would be none other than the queen herself: Bjork. I honestly wouldn't be lying to you if Fossora was my most anticipated release this year, and the result certainly lived up to the hype. Because, Fossora still maintains Bjork's signature avant-garde sound she's explored for the past 20 or so years by expectedly doing the unexpected.

The album opens with the lead single "Atopos", which admittedly ... read more
