Where Floyd's two most recognizable albums made their mark with operatic aggression and fear, Animals deals in dirt-under-the-fingernails reality, the common smallness that simultaneously binds and repels us all.
Animals is all extended pieces, yet it never drifts -- it slowly, ominously works its way toward its destination.
Animals was just a laser show looking for a soundtrack. If there's one ironclad rule of rock & roll, it's that songs about pigs are always lame.

If Pigs and Sheep started with either pig noises or sheep noises, why didn't Dogs start with dog noises? 0/100. Disappointed. Would never recommend.
Three of the best art rock songs I have ever heard. "Dogs" sits at 17 minutes but somehow leaves me desperately wanting more. The opener and the closer feel lacking in comparison, and the juxtaposition of the lengths of the time feels off too me. However, that does little to take away from the meat of the matter. I like it! Favorite track: "Dogs".
