Wow, did the critics get it wrong! One of the most inventive guitar albums of the #2000s, looking back at how ‘Carnavas’ and this era of Silversun Pickups has aged like a fine wine 🍷 🍾

So here we have a male frontman and vocalist waaaaay ahead of his time unafraid to challenge masculine singing stereotypes in rock while simultaneously making crispy, detailed, nuanced guitar textures atop infectious bass grooves and really innovative production. The space between grunge and indie rock
In 2006 Silversun Pickups brought us the missing link between the harsh and raw rock sound of grunge that dominated the airwaves in the early 90s and the experimental phase indie rock ushered in the 2010s. From time to time it feels like the mixture of Stone Temple Pilots and Arcade Fire, and that alone makes Carnavas an interesting listen. Fortunately, the end product is also really good.

Lazy Eye is an awesome song, the rest is alright but some are forgettable. A pretty safe alt rock record for the most part.
