One of my personal favorite albums of all time, a high point for 70's British prog
A perfect prog-rock album, a strong debut, the beginning of a series of great records and an overall successful career for the band - that's all about Gentle Giant.
In my opinion the album is the antithesis of King Crimson's debut, mainly because of the similarities in the album artwork, as both albums feature the faces of characters that epitomize a particular song, while fitting well with the rest of the material on each album. Very divisive on the reviews here. While I understand it isn't as pompous as some other Progressive offerings, I think Gentle Giant accomplished exactly what it was going for with their self-titled project. Quality Prog!
