Patina sounds pristine and good enough to justify its own existence. When the highlight ‘Special’ carefully laces its framework with enough sparkles and ethereal vocal melodies to light up a pitch black sky, it’s hard to feel anything but joy.
While their mesh of influences isn't exactly novel, Patina shows Tallies coming into their own as songwriters, capable of crafting warm, memorable music unbeholden to nostalgia.

they have such an atavistic sound that it's sure to be off-putting to most listeners. what sets them apart is Sarah Cogan's unique vocal style and a strict adherence to the School of Robin Guthrie when it comes to recording and production techniques. they easily alternate between C86 indie pop and dream pop, and they are well versed in the standard turns of each genre.
