Yeah... hours...

Because I wasted hours of my life listening to music...

For petty reasons

Also this album is fucking boring
After the wildly industrial and experimental "Earthling", Bowie returns with Hours... yeah, it's really boring.

There's just nothing here of note. The production doesn't really bring anything to the table like even his last few albums did, it just sounds plain average. I mean it's not bad... like, some of the production is actually kinda cool but nothing that stood out to me. Every song sounded exactly the same, with the occasional exception. Bowie's 21st album is an odd one in his discography, it was originally formed from his work with Reeves Gabrels, his guitarist, in creating the soundtrack to the videogame Omikron: The Nomad Soul. The plot of which starts out with you trying to solve a serial killer case and ends with a conspiracy in which someone called Astaroth is using demons to collect people's souls as well as impersonate members of government. Alternative Rock this is not. However, this LP does have its Rock moments. Listen to 'The Pretty Things...' track and you'll understand. 'Thursday's Child' is a great opener. The vibe overall as this album moves from track to track is one that I really enjoy especially when I'm able to give it a listen in a quiet personal space. Hours is yet another decline in quality for Bowie, and honestly this was the most boring listen I've had from him so far. While Bowie has had much, much worse releases than this in the past, none of them were quite as boring as this. I damn near fell asleep during this one.

There were a few good moments sprinkled throughout, but there was not nearly enough to save this from disaster. Thursday's Child I thought was a great opener that was really fun. Something In The Air was extremely catchy ... read more
