The concept of Operation: Mindcrime is one of the best I've ever seen come out of progressive rock music. Some songs are duds, but it delivers on a fairly consistent sound that packs a huge punch with how tight the performances are. Admittedly, I feel that bands from the new wave of british heavy metal nailed this sound better, but this album is a unique experience all it's own.

This is the album that introduced me to concept albums and helped me find my love for progressive metal. The production is PRISTINE and still holds up to this day. It's an incredible album with a cool story and some incredible songwriting moments. I think the only thing that has aged poorly for me is some of Geoff's vocal deliveries/lyrics which at times feel a bit cheesy, especially on O:M and Spreading the Disease.
