The second best thing Immortal ever did if you ask me. While "Pure Holocaust" is just behind this, and "At the Heart of Winter" being my first choice, this stands as one of the best black metal records I've heard. It has that secondary-thrash tag on it and I love me some blackened thrash. Perfect blend of thrash and black metal that could be only achieved by Immortal. First 4 tracks are a punch in the face. Drumming and riffage are amazing. I would like to say it loses it's on-point thrashy sound around the end (like most people) but this album is amazing throughout. Guilty pleasure? maybe
I would pick this album over At The Heart Of Winter but not Pure Holocaust. Regardless, all of them are undeniable black metal classics
