With Where I’m Meant To Be, the jazz quintet have crafted a supremely effective call to surrender yourself to the present and celebrate life through dance.
Where I'm Meant to Be is not only a logical follow-up to Ezra Collective's debut, but a deeply soulful, musically sophisticated, and rhythmically infectious one, too.
There are cornball moments ... but Ezra Collective’s earnestness is still infectious. Don’t overthink it.
Despite the 7/10, Where I’m Meant To Be is a very good record, and perhaps another critic would enjoy it in the exact same way and give it an 8. It’s just… not that different.
A project that captures the raw energy, togetherness, and musicianship of a live concert. It's a piece with entrancing grooves that are shape-shifting and improvisational, resembling a loose jam session.
band is called "Ezra Collective" yet NO ONE in the band is named Ezra???? you can't be serious with this
Favourite tracks: Welcome To My World, Live Strong, Siesta, Belonging, Never the Same Again
Not sure this was the best British and Irish album of the year but then again it's nice that a jazz record has finally won the Mercury Prize.
