Whereas many songwriters might revel in the youthful abandon of such recklessness, Emotions and Math instead treats bad decisions and destructive impulses with compassionate clarity and heartfelt empathy.

Similary to lucy dacus, soccer mommy, phoebe bridgers, etc margaret glasby isn't the most revolutionary indie artist but she has so good highlights that you cannot be indifferent to her music.

She has an interesting voice and she is raw at the good moments. Her guitar paly is also more complex than I imagine after multi listenings. She has done a good work in songwriting.

Margaret Glaspy proves herself an interesting and compelling new indie artist to watch on this memorable debut. While the sounds are not that distinctive, any concerns about this album being generic are eliminated once Glaspy starts singing; she has a fantastically raspy alto, combined with some great songs and some excellent songwriting. Glaspy has drawn upon this well of experience to deliver her self-produced record, Emotions and Math, stating that “[i]t feels like it took 26 years to make this album.” ... read more
Yet another alt-rock singer/songwriter coming onto the scene. "Emotions and Math" has some very thoughtful lyrics dotted around a handful of songs that are sure to grab ahold of listeners, but Glaspy will have to exceed expectations with her next LP to break away from the herd; otherwise, her music will suffocate under the immense talent of her fellow contemporaries.
