From start to finish, Dawn Richard and Spencer Zahn have created a truly refreshing body of work, a seamless experience. ‘Pigments’ encourages one to reach outside of their comfort zone, to listen more closely, more openly.

The album plays over three movements of contemporary classical, and while no single movement significantly stands out from the others, they each find Richard in different states of turmoil, frustration and insecurity, often all at once.
Some kind of music which needs more than one listening, and I suppose each time could be more worthy. Nothing for easy listening cause of the sophisticated and elaborate arrangements.
With each listen of Pigments being rewarding, here's another reason why Dawn Richard deserves her flowers - is there a genre this woman can't do?
