Metal Injection
In Flames seems to be on the verge of starting another new chapter. Though that's par for the course when dealing with one of heavy metal's most influential bands.

While the last few years have been turbulent for those waiting for In Flames to reclaim their mojo, they needn’t worry any further. Foregone is a stick of dynamite with a first-place ribbon attached; a sensational rejuvenation that even the staunchest doomsayers will have a hard time picking apart.

Distorted Sound
IN FLAMES have finally created an album that mixes their old and new styles together organically. Nothing sounds forced and everything works to almost perfection.

We can't welcome IN FLAMES back because they never went away, but this does feel like a sort of homecoming, or at least a reward to grumbling old-school fans for loyalty through those experimental and occasionally divisive years.

Kerrang!

Foregone is a reminder that when In Flames are at the peak of their powers, they really are untouchable. This is a record that will see them finally reassert their dominance, and ring in their next colossal era.

AllMusic
The record has a raw, bass-heavy, crunchy sound, with their usual highly melodic lines and harmonic solos present and correct, and a philosophical tone engendered by the imposed isolation of the COVID-19 lockdown.

With the release of Foregone, In Flames have shown they do still have the same fire that made their classics so good, and they have done so without totally abandoning the sound they’ve been cultivating over the last few decades.

Angry Metal Guy

Oft-aped, but never duplicated, In Flames’ unique take on melodeath has been palpable in its absence, which makes Foregone a joy to hear.

The legends are back! Their newer releases haven't been good but I had hope for this album since the singles were AMAZING. All of them. I'm a big fan of their older stuff, I even have a CD for The Jester Race. I predicted that this will be their 2nd best album, so was I right?

Well, the album was really solid and enjoyable, but I might've expected just a little bit more. Especially because the singles were so good, the album songs themselves are... well, kinda just there. They're okay. Maybe ... read more

I get a lot of Black Veil Brides inspiration this, especially in "Bleeding Out", and it's one of the best from the record. It blends a nice mixture of the heavier melodic side with a strong presence of cleans that combine pleasantly. The winner has to be "Foregone Pt. 2" though, that riff instantly stuck into the recesses of my brain. A very strong, very pleasing release for sure, nothing new or innovative, it's just solid.

I've been wanting to review this, but for some reason, I just didn't.

Forgone is the 14th studio album by the band, In Flames. In Flames, in the early days, were a pretty enjoyable death metal band. I actually have one of their albums, which was Soundtrack To Your Escape. Which came out almost 20 years ago in 2004. I gotta say that album was pretty good. But thats not what we're talking about. In the 2010s, In Flames had one pretty bad decade from what I've heard. I haven't listened to any of ... read more
