Permanent Damage is a thoroughly impressive and self-aware debut from an artist who is unafraid to wrestle with feelings of loneliness, alienation, and self-destructive tendencies out in the open.
I know that the year JUST begun but I can’t help but to itch for some semblance of a great album to come out this month. January isn’t usually the month where this necessarily happens per-say but you never know! There could be some potential gems awaiting me.. I just got to dig deep.
This is the only album so far that is really solid to me. Even when it gets weaker on the second half, there’s some tracks on here that are really smooth and beautifully performed.

A great indie pop record that's going to go under the radar.
Joesef's debut record 'Permanent Damage' has a knack for finding catchy melodies and pulling at the heartstrings. There's nothing complicated about it: it's a danceable, in-your-feels type pop record, but refrains from hitting too many ugly cliches with its thoughtful writing.

there are some good grooves here but very all over the place. above all else, I enjoyed the dance-y synth-y funky tracks better than the Daniel Caesar impersonations.
