The Line of Best Fit
An irony comes alongside this record, in spite of having a somewhat concept element to it in the form of heartbreak, you can’t help but step away from the album without feeling totally lovestruck.

Record Collector

Permanent Damage is a work of understated pop introspection and a modern classic of queer pop.

The Skinny

Permanent Damage is a thoroughly impressive and self-aware debut from an artist who is unafraid to wrestle with feelings of loneliness, alienation, and self-destructive tendencies out in the open.

DIY
Joesef weaves his narrative with soulful, silk-like vocals.

Dork
‘Permanent Damage’ is an album for dancing away your demons, for singing along with tears in your eyes and laughter on your lips, for letting everything go, feeling how you feel, and that feeling being good.

Clash
An artist who continually confronts his own emotions, ‘Permanent Damage’ finds Joesef heightening his intentions, and magnifying his aspirations. He’s manifesting pop greatness, and few would bet against him.

It's Been a Little Heavy Lately and East End Coast were two singles from this album and were a strong start: my favorite songs off this album. Both songs are ... read more

there are some good grooves here but very all over the place. above all else, I enjoyed the dance-y synth-y funky tracks better than the Daniel Caesar impersonations.
