Fantastic record where Molina gets into more of the folk roots sonically and his songwriting is at its best. It has a raw, exposed emotional resonance because it was actually recorded as a live session in its entirety. This approach creates an intimacy and transfixing atmosphere. For me it recalls the gritty, raw sound of Neil Young's "Tonight's The Night", which is good company to be in.

Didn’t it rain slowly sees Molina incorporating the country influences that would eventually blossom into “Magnolia Electric Co”, but still retains the haunting folk and slow core sounds of his earlier material nonetheless. It’s as haunting as ever, and may just be the best under the Songs: Ohia name.

Standout: Didn’t it rain
Favs: Cross the road molina, Two Blue lights, Blue factory flame, Ring the bell, Blue Chicago Moon, Steve Albini’s Blues

Stripped back, raw, and emotional. Amazing that so much emotion can come out of this album in it's simplicity. I really felt a sort of physical and emotional pain listening to this album, in a way that made me feel connected on a borderline spiritual level. That sounds kind of crazy, but I can't really remember feeling that way listening to a piece of music before.
