An angry, brutal, messed up, wacked out, bonkers, off the wall, and genuinely insane dissection of American life, from what would be one of the more controversial men in shock-rock. Marilyn's shrieks and his band's heavy, thundering riffs are aided by the creeping and wacked out production by Trent Reznor, giving us one hell of a debut. However, at times the writing can go from threatening and insane to corny and played out.

Introduction to Marilyn's music and ion like it
What a fucking amazing debut showing off what would only be the start
Here we get a colorful but gritty introduction to Marilyn Manson, fresh off the Spooky Kids name. With creative samples and the late Daisy Berkowitz’s guitar playing, not forgetting the also late Gidget Gein’s bass work that was redone by Twiggy, this album keeps you engaged the entire way through. I love the rawness of the record and Manson’s amateur punk-like vocals, too.
