[Genre: Electro-Industrial] …and conveniently enough, the beginning to my Nine Inch Nails binge!

To make things easier here, this will read more like I'm binging their discography instead of a typical genre quest review so writing this is less confusing.

Nine Inch Nails' debut Pretty Hate Machine is an addicting electro-industrial powerhouse of an album that feels dark and depressing yet danceable at the same time. It takes on a more electronic sound compared to the industrial rock ... read more

I imagine this is what a satanic rave sounds like.

Even though I do love NIN, Pretty Hate Machine doesn't really do much for me besides the obvious banger "Head Like a Hole" (and "Sin" is pretty solid also).

POWERHOUSE!

Now we jump back into the more dated stuff on the list, but this one is pretty outstanding.

What really adds to this album is not only the industrial sound, but the world-ending tension and the firepower sound that drives the engine of the record makes it something truly exciting.

While some of it's sounds and styles can seem somewhat dated and by the numbers by today's standards, it's still a rip roaring and insanely detailed industrial album that deserves all the attention it gets, even if it's still trying to wipe off the 80s slime off it's highly polished back.

Favorite jams: Sanctified, Something I Can Never Have, Head Like A Hole

Lest favorite: Down in It (R A P T R E N T)
