Babymetal's fourth album The Other One affirms why the Japanese band are now global superstars.
It’s hard not to have fun when every track here feels suitably like its own adventure, and impressively still, BABYMETAL sound like they’ve been steering the ship through these parallel universes not for the first time, but for years. Strap yourself in, and put those kitsunes up.
Other One feels like it was pulled through a wormhole from a universe where a committee writes Babymetal's metallic pop emissions, intent on flowing with the current instead of against it.
It's slightly disappointing for the fans who came expecting something like the Sabaton and Arch Enemy collabs of the last record.
Yeah, it's another BABYMETAL album. What else is there to say?
It's probably their best, but that doesn't mean it's still not over-compressed, annoying, and cheesy at parts. Some of the riffs are great, most of the vocals are not great, and most of the production is questionable, but the energy and creativity are present I guess, so yeah.
I love Alt Metal but this band was never for me, at all. There are a few good songs on here though, which is more than I expected. But yeah I'll forget this ... read more

The album distinctly marks a departure from the group’s “METAL X” titling format and also marks a sonic departure from their past projects. Some of the group’s most iconic quirks are embraced, and others shed for more mature songwriting. But overall, BABYMETAL ... read more
Every song manages to be hype and everything is a banger. I feel like all the reviews are about how BabyMetal has changed but I don't want to take away from how damn good this album is
BABYMETAL is back and holy crap 2019 flew by.
A bit of a step down from METAL GALAXY but a lot of the same catchy tunes, riffs, and earworm melodies still remain which has me hooked with this band.
