Eh. Got nothing from this. The baby song was silly enough I guess and it definitely stood out. But yeah this is just background music for me.
The first thing you notice with 'Flip Your Wig' is the production feels crisper and 'less punk' - are we even dealing with a 'punk band' at this stage? Certainly the band are evolving towards a more alt rock sound, informed by R.E.M. among others, and so there's a feeling that we're in transition now.

Flip Your Wig takes Hüsker Dü into their most poppy album yet with softer production compared to the previous albums while still delivering amazing music. The two slower more freeform songs do weigh it down a bit but it's still an absolute banger of an album.
