Solid from front to back, it deserves all the praise it gets.
Black Sabbath prove to be one of the best rock bands in music history with their masterpiece, Paranoid. This record is absurdly heavy for its time, showing that the group was creating the shape of rock music to come in the future, with heavier guitars and darker lyricism than any of their contemporaries at the time. i was introduced to black sabbath when i was a little kid, like 7 years old. three tracks on this LP were on repeat for some of the early years of my life (war pigs, paranoid, iron man), and i still love them years later. i finally listened to the album as a whole, and was not disappointed. the tracks flow and complement each other so nicely, with ozzy osbourne's vocals only making this an even more memorable listen. definitely has a stronger first half, however the last 4 tracks should not ... read more
This album is solid from start to finish, all the way. It amazes me how incredibly overlooked the second half of this album is.
A great album which pretty much marked the birth of heavy metal. The instrumentals here are phenomenal in my opinion with some of the best riffs of all time (Iron Man in particular) and Ozzy Osbourne’s vocals are equally great too. My only gripe is that the lyrics of each song are pretty basic, and feel like what would’ve been written on the first draft.
