Throughout the album, he embraces druggy, surreal imagery, which can either have a sense of menace or beauty, and the music reflects that, jumping between soothing melodies to hard, bluesy rock.
Highway 61 Revisited perfected the sound that Dylan dubbed "thin wild mercury music," with a jagged guitar groove, swirling organ, fluid piano, and Dylan's madcap snarl up top, all doomy menace and hallucinatory wit, packing a career's worth of rock & roll innovation into each of the nine songs.
Bob Dylan's songwriting was just like on another level with this LP.
I went into this expecting to give it a 10. I have been obsessed with every Bob Dylan song sent into me on stream recently. This album is surprisingly serious, and perfectly produced. My ears have been blessed. This is peak.
What do I even say? The stories and performances are so incredible, that I will forget I am not in a room with this guy just hearing him speak to me one on one.
I will be thinking about these songs for a very long time. No question, this is peak. This is what makes what ... read more

[I invite you to read my previous review on Bob Dylan, below, to better understand his life and this one]. I will say first of all that Highway 61 Revisited is brilliant as it was in 1965. My expectations were obviously very high, considering the album's reputation, but god damn, shit's truly incredible.

It's down to earth in a way so satirical and critical of the world, and the storytelling Dylan's folk music is able to convey in his work is WAY ahead of its time. By 1965, almost no genre ... read more
I swear my favorite song changed after every track 😭😭
