Rebekka Karijord and Jessica Dessnerโ€™s rather special song cycle harks back to Schubert in its pictorial settings but also brings in healthy elements of modern classical music and folk.

This is a fantastic record, both sophisticated and personable, and one that I suspect will be well-loved by a niche audience. If the albumโ€™s description here intrigues you at all, Complete Mountain Almanacโ€™s emergence is not to be missed.

Uncut
The results are an intense juxtaposition of the intimate and the universal framed in beguiling chamber-folk arrangements.

Delicate yet powerful, and utterly compelling.

Much like the natural world it describes, Complete Mountain Almanac is a deeply nuanced record of layers and unseen details that only reveal themselves with time.

No Ripcord

Complete Mountain Almanac is a superficially pretty album, but you’ll need to afford it your full attention to unearth its full charms and appreciate its emotional depth. Grab your best headphones and really listen; you’ll soon discover there’s something very special going on here.

Loud and Quiet

It’s easy to praise an album’s humanity, but it’s made more powerful here by Complete Mountain Almanac’s commitment to uncertainty. That this album never falls into melodrama is testament to its creators.

Beats Per Minute

At its best, the album strums out a stark moment, like a voice calling for help.

This feels way more Chamber Folk-y than Indie Folk. At times it's dark and ethereal, not to mention the extremely present vocal that holds your hand through the year, dressed in a touch of delay on top of a spacious reverb. From January to April the tension built and the work had encapsulated me by May. It's a lot darker than I initially expected, but I'm not taken aback by that, it's genuinely a beautiful release.

Favourite Track : May

Complete Mountain Almanac is a gorgeous collection of contemporary folk tales and songs effortlessly tinged with elements of nature and ethereal strung melodies by the fantastic collaborative group which consists of singer songwriter Rebekka Karijord, dancer and multimedia artist Jessica Dessner, and Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National. I’ve been a big fan of Karijord as an artist previously , so I have been eagerly awaiting the rest of this album after being ... read more

My favourite LP of 2023 so far. Absolutely, dazzlingly beautiful. Highly highly recommended.

Essential Track - June

This album depends on the situation. If you want something calming to listen to while you're working, this is a very enjoyable album, but if you just listen to the music it's too boring for me. I like the idea that every song has the name of the month and the instrumental is created on base of the soundscape from the different months. The instrumentals are very beautiful and calming but the replay value is very bad because the songs feel kinda boring.

Beautiful is the best word to describe ths project.
