HipHopDX

Running so long ensures filler and repetitive topic material, but overall Snoop makes a strong case against ageism as he fuses the adult contemporary and Gangsta Rap genres.

Consequence of Sound

Originality seems to allude some current hip-hop stars, chasing fads and scenes. But Snoop hasn’t wavered too much stylistically.

AllMusic

Without the crip walking and crime bossing of his early years, the varied and mainstream LP falls right in line with Snoop's 2004 effort R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece, offering a cavalcade of stars and numerous radio-worthy party tracks.

Exclaim!

These occasional misses aren't enough to water down the entirety of Coolaid, though, with Snoop's return to G-funk proving refreshing enough to keep listeners' thirst quenched.

XXL

Coolaid would have gained top marks if he put some of the old school gangsta filler on ice and let us know what it’s like to be one of rap’s most accomplished veterans.

Pitchfork

With Coolaid, arguably Snoop’s first real hip-hop album in half a decade, we find his reinvention back into “Rapper Snoop” to be a bit wobbly.

This album isn't totally egregious, but it falls flat on almost every front. The features are weak, the production is boring, and it's super bloated... So it's a Snoop Dogg album. After the first 3-5 tracks, it just trails off into unrelenting mediocrity. I don't hate this album though, because it does have some good tracks, but as a whole, it's just not good.

The momentum of this album just slows down after the first few songs, and it just keeps on slowing down until the end. Maybe this would’ve been great if it was 7-8 songs, but after those first couple of songs everything just gets worse: production, features, flows, lyrics, etc.
