The album largely succeeds off the natural chemistry of its co-creators and the wide range of instrumentals that touch on several regional rap styles that both rappers learned to conquer during their decades-long careers.

American Songwriter
Wayne is still rapping like he is in his prime as an artist, as his auto-tuned, crooned flow will never get old. Add to this the ever-amusing, boisterous flows from 2 Chainz, which contrast well with Wayne’s delivery. It just feels like, at times, a sharp-minded executive producer could have done wonders for the rhythm of the track list.
Slant Magazine
A dramatically uneven concept album that demonstrates the rappers’ unwillingness to grow up.

A fun, and surprisingly diverse release with a few bad songs, as to be expected. Still a good release

Lil Wayne isn't washed up, YAY.
In 2013, there were rumours that 2 Chainz and Tunechi are working on music together. In 2015, Tity Boy annouced that he is working with New Orleans legend on collab project "ColleGrove". Not only that, I will also critique one of the greatest rappers alive. Essentially, I’ll be killing two birds with one stone. I decided to listen to this album first before anything else since I have a huge history for both of ... read more

Does anyone even care about lil wayne anymore?

My most anticipated release of the year - and it somehow exceeded expectations.

G6 is Wayne and Chainz just going off for 3 minutes. Big Diamonds features Mannie Fresh (!) production, which we all know Wayne fits perfectly on. 21 Savage comes through with a solid hook and verse. Chainz' verse gets progressively more aggressive and its awesome. You can tell they're having fun with this one. Presha ... is mid, but Long Story Short is incredible. Wayne comes through with the punchlines, ... read more

A very mixed bag with lyrics that feel like they've been writing decades ago and that have since aged like milk. Occasionally you get a more memorable song, but I just find this release to be pretty vapid and unimportant.
