Expansive yet accessible, indulgent yet unpretentious, The Glow, Pt. 2 redefines the Microphones' fascinatingly contradictory music.

The Glow Pt. 2 ... captures the sea, the sky, and the mountains in a sonic panorama that seems to live without beginning or end. A sprawling, swirling composition that is both as varied and as consistent as the landscape itself, The Glow Pt. 2 exceeds even its predecessor in capturing the simultaneous wrath and fragility of nature.

It’s architecturally stunning on the large scale – careening from silence to squally noise to bouncing headphone-oriented stereo moments to odd, reeling pop-waltzes in a glorious depiction of all of nature’s fickle, freckled life. And in its small, intimate inflections it also glows with an incredible vitality.

The Microphones are one of the most original, interesting bands to come out in the last 3 years.

It took a while to appreciate but the amount of detail and unbelievable creativity of this album has me floored and locked every time I revisit this album

I have had this album at a 98 when realistically I don't have a single issue with this album.

This is probably going to take further listens to fully understand, but I definitely enjoyed it on a first listen. This album has so many switches in sound, with songs going from downbeat folk-rock to sounds adjacent to noise rock. It can be kind of jarring but in an engaging way.

Map is the best song btw
