Lyrically, Hendrix tosses out dreamy references to gold ships, golden gardens, rainbows and dragonflies — in words and sound, he argues that the universe is a wondrous place full of magic to those willing to open their consciousness. Dig.
The History of The Albums – n°370
[I also suggest you read my previous review on The Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced, to better understand the context of this one]. In the space of a few months, Jimi Hendrix went from a struggling and utterly mis-understood artist to an icon of high standing. In mid 1967, Hendrix released Are You Experienced, a near perfect debut album that showed just how much he had concretely revolutionized the world of guitar and beyond by establishing himself as ... read more
"Axis: Bold as Love" is an album that is banned in Malaysia, since the album cover integrates the band within Hindu culture, particularly illustrating The Jimi Hendrix Experience as the deity Lord Vishnu. Jimi Hendrix was not involved in the development and publicly expressed his disapproval for the disrespectful appropriation. It's crazy how music label people just full send these things, because to my understanding, Jimi Hendrix disapproved of most of his album covers during his ... read more
This has NO right to be as good as it is! They rushed to get this out to uphold their contract stating that they would release two albums in 1967. This should have been a complete mess. How the hell did they pull this off?
This record is phenomenal; it's brilliant; it's damn near flawless; it's beautiful; it has some of the best guitar work I have ever heard; it's fucking magical, that's what this is! Jesus Christ, when this started I genuinely thought this would be Jimi's weakest project, and ... read more

I don’t think we give ... read more

Axis: Bold as Love is a great album with just that offsetting intro.
Jimi Hendrix was a great artist and this album cements it. With no song being truly bad except for the intro song if you count that, it creates a great listening experience. I would recommend this album to anyone.
