This focus on making the music flow organically in time with the narrative is essential to any concept record, and each and every part of Vertikal is crucial to the overarching story

Vertikal is an interesting and accomplished hybrid, but it isn't perfect. In fact, it works best on a track-by track basis, though the record clearly aims to be its own holistic, all-encompassing universe.

If only I’d never spent all those years listening to Neurosis and ISIS - I’m sure this would have been a revelatory listen under those circumstances.

The thing is, I have, so they’ve done a professional job here but it’s offering me next to nothing new.

It moves me not!
