2Pac is unquestionably the most influential and enigmatic hip hop titan of all time, and Me Against the World is the moment he had crossed over into this realm. Unlike many of his contemporaries who celebrated the lifestyle drugs and violence, 2Pac used his third album as a moment of reflection on how he had reached this point in his life. You know why this Pac album works? Cause it's so damn comfy.

On 2Pacalypse Now + Strictly 4 My R.E.D.A.C.T.E.D., Pac is aggressive with a few flows and lyrics, especially with a political/social edge reminiscent of Ice Cube and Public Enemy. What can be said that hasn't been said already? Dude was a poet extraordinaire. The beats are great as well. The whole album has the looming paranoia about it, but also has some touching moments as well. I would say it doesn't quite live up to the hype, it does have an overwhelmingly old-school vibe and sound palette to it. I still would consider this essential hip-hop listening.
