Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z finds him with a lot on his mind. He comes with a sense of drive and eruptive, dissident, dissonant fervor.
Though the production sometimes suffers, especially in the middle of the album, where it's utterly forgettable, the record shows a continually developing MC, with increasingly complex lyrical themes, well on his way to becoming nearly unstoppable.
My absolute favorite 2Pac album* - that's right, you heard me, the album that sounds like it was recorded on a GameBoy Color.
2Pac went through a lot of phases in his career, from a poet to an actor to a break-dancer to a thought-proving MC to an ambassador of thug life to a martyr. fun as fuck it has all his energy and his lyrics are amazing
There's a lot of Zzzz's around here but this album is anything but sleepy. It's high energy and I can't help but instantly gravitate more towards 2Pac than I do with projects from other rappers - even when they're more artistically accomplished than 'Strictly'.
Overall an improvement over his debut but he is still not yet at the level we all remember him by.
